Website: http://www.asianamericanfilm.com/minutemovies/index.html Title: Minute Movies Contact: Greg Pak Description: With the advent of MiniDV and home editing systems like Final Cut Pro, it's possible to make short films for next to nothing. AsianAmericanFilm.com wants to encourage the making of more Asian American films for the internet -- while giving filmmakers the opportunity to flex their creative muscles by making compact two minute movies. No restrictions on genre. Documentary, comedy, drama, animation, experimental -- anything's up for grabs, folks. Flash animators, we particularly would love to see proposals from you! Any kind of story or theme is fine. Films definitely do not have to deal explicitly with so-called Asian American themes. But films should get Asian or Asian American faces on the screen. The only thing we can't handle is nudity -- if we stream it, we'll get booted by our web host, alas. Films should be conceived for streaming online. Think about the size of that little box, folks... Proposals should be realistic budget-wise. Even in the DV world, $250 bucks goes pretty quickly... Filmmakers should be enthusiastic about sharing their filmmaking trials and triumphs with AsianAmericanFilm.com visitors with online diaries and periodic chat sessions. Finally, we're looking for filmmakers interested in networking with other selected filmmakers before, during, and after production. Geography will determine how much of this can happen, but we're hoping to provide ways for the selected filmmakers to give each other advice and feedback and share information and resources. No deadline -- applications accepted on a rolling basis. But the earlier you submit, the better chance you have! Submit too late and all the money might be gone!
